About Us

The Selo de Mar Project aims to recover fish preservation techniques and innovate based on tradition. We aim to take advantage of the seasonality of raw materials and use them in their entirety.

Our team conducts daily research with the goal of deepening and spreading all knowledge in the areas of conservation and the origin of the raw materials we work with daily.

Our Lusitanian Garum combines tradition and innovation to offer you a unique gastronomic experience.
We based it on an ancient recipe that goes far beyond flavor—it is a tribute to the Portuguese culinary heritage and a commitment to more conscious and healthy eating.

Collaborations

Mission

We are guided by environmental awareness and ethical values, selecting only essential and sustainably sourced ingredients to preserve not only the authentic flavor but also the balance of the ecosystem.

Our values

We respect the seasonality of raw materials, aligning our production with natural cycles. This allows us to offer a fresh, high-quality product while also contributing to the sustainability of resources.

Our commitment to sustainability goes far beyond responsible production. We use eco-friendly packaging made from recyclable and biodegradable materials to minimize environmental impact. Therefore, each batch of Garum not only delivers authentic flavor but also helps protect the planet.

We make full use of raw materials, transforming them into valuable resources. We implement efficient processes that minimize water and energy use, ensuring that our environmental impact is as low as possible.

We are dedicated daily to exploring new conservation techniques while preserving our history. We explore new ingredients and fermentation methods, ensuring that each batch is unique and authentic.

Selo de Mar illustration

A practicing humanist, a scholarly artisan, and a generous teacher, Manuel Lapa shaped a significant part of our contemporary visual history.

The identity of Selo de Mar features an illustration by the graphic artist Manuel Lapa, who masterfully sculpted graphic forms with light and shadow.
The illustration was designed for the cover of the book "A Amazónia no fabulário e na arte" by Gastão de Bettencourt, published in 1946 by Pro Domo.
We thank the family for granting permission to use this work for the identity of Selo de Mar, with which we identify and that so well illustrates the spirit of this project.
